~Sample Start~

I am in my room wearing casual clothes, a lilac T-shirt, jeans, a black hoodie jacket, and the shoes I’ve had since I came to the Garrison. I am sitting on my bed holding a device I can’t identify and sigh. “A piece to my past, and I don’t even know what it is. Maybe a breath of fresh air will help.” I sigh and put the piece of tech in my jacket pocket. I get up and walk out of my room and I hear Commander Iverson announce to the cadets, “Lights out in 5.” I keep walking to go outside to the roof of the garrison. On my way out the lights in the hallways turn off, but I keep walking. I make it to the roof and look at the solar panels, I head up to the highest point of the facility. The area is a large and flat part of the roof, I lay down on my back and look up at the stars. The stars are so beautiful, I always see stars in my dreams.

My mind starts to wander with questions as I stargaze. Suddenly my thoughts are interrupted by a yell, well actually more of a yelp. I turn to where the yelp came from which is on the section of the roof below me and I see the same 3 cadets from earlier but in casual attire. I can hear them talking but I can’t hear what they’re saying, so I jump down. While falling I tap my shoes together and some kind of technology forms under the shoes to make a hoverboard to stop me before I hit the ground. I tap my foot against the hoverboard and it disappears back into my shoes. The 3 cadets notice me and stop their conversation to address me. “Woah, hey what are you doing out here?” Lance asks me while pointing at me, “I could ask you three the same question. Commander Iverson said all the cadets should be in the barracks.” Hunk looks at me, “Then how come you’re out here?” I look down to my right and hold my right arm, “I..like to stargaze sometimes.” Pidge is on the ground sitting cross-legged with some headphones and some tech in front of him. Pidge looks up at me, “Hey wait a minute, you’re Stella right? The girl who has amnesia and was found by the officers 2 years ago, right?” I blush out of embarrassment. Hunk speaks up, “I’ll take that as yes. But how come you’re embarrassed Stella?” Hunk walks towards me and gives me a sincere smile. I take a deep breath and let it out before looking at Hunk, “I just wish I could remember anything from my past before I was found here at the Garrison 2 years ago. But what are you all doing up here?” Lance looks at Pidge then at me, “We were going to get Pidge for some team bonding but we found him up here and then you showed up.” Me, Lance, and Hunk look at Pidge. We walk closer to him and Lance asks, “So what are you doing up here Pidge?” Pidge clears his throat, “Oh um, just looking at the stars.” I give a look displaying that I don’t buy that lie, Lance continues asking questions, “Where did you get this stuff? Doesn’t look like Garrison tech.” Pidge straightens up his posture giving a grin, “I built it.” Hunk moves to try and touch some of the equipment and asks, “You built all this?” Pidge smacks his hand away before Hunk can touch anything, “Ah, stop it. With this thing, I can scan all the way to the edge of the solar system.” I look at Pidge curiously and ask, “Really? All the way to say Kerberos?” Pidge chooses to look away and not answer the question. Lance crosses his arms, “Every time the instructors mention Kerberos you go ballistic. What’s your deal?” I see Hunk try to sneakily touch the equipment from a different angle but Pidge notices, “Second warning Hunk.” Hunk groans and stops touching the tech. “Look Pidge, if we’re going to be a team and bond, we can’t have any secrets from each other.” Pidge sighs and looks at Lance and me, “Fine, the world as you know it is.. about to change. The Kerberos mission wasn’t lost because of some mechanical or crew failure-” I see Hunk is once again trying to touch the equipment. “Stop touching my equipment!” Pidge yells at Hunk and he flops to his side, finally giving up. Pidge continues, “So I’ve been scanning the system and I’ve picked up alien radio chatter.” This catches Lance and Hunk’s attention, “Woah, wait. Aliens?” Lance crosses his arms, “Now, I get it. You’re insane.” Lance turns around to leave, “I’m serious.” Pidge grabs a small notebook and shows it to us, “They keep repeating one word, ‘Voltron.’” Voltron, I know that word. Why do I know that word? The more I think about the word ‘Voltron’ the more my head hurts, but for some reason, those flashes of light come to mind when I try to think of ‘Voltron’. “And tonight, it’s going off crazier than I have ever heard it before.” I can tell by his expression this gets Lance’s interest. “How crazy?” Suddenly we hear the P.A. system turn on and an alarm blaring. “Attention students. This is not a drill. We are on lockdown! Security situation Zulu Niner. Repeat: All students are to remain in barracks until further notice.” Hunk stands up and looks around concerned, “What’s going on?” I look around and notice something in the sky, “Um guys, what is that?” I point at something falling through the atmosphere, the boys look and Hunk asks “Is that a meteor? A really, really big meteor?” Pidge grabs a pair of binoculars from his bag and looks at what we see in the sky, “It’s a ship.” Lance pulls the binoculars from Pidge and looks through them, “Holy crow! I can’t believe it! That’s definitely not one of our ships!” I look at the incoming ship in shock and awe like the others, “No, it’s one of theirs.” Pidge says as we all watch the ship fall through the sky “So wait, there really are aliens out there?!” We see the ship crash land near the Galaxy Garrison.

From below we see that personnel from The Galaxy Garrison get in large land rovers and start driving to the crash site. I see Pidge starts putting his stuff back in his bag, “We need to go and check out that ship!” Pidge starts to take off and I follow after him, “Come on guys!” I hear Lance and Hunk follow us as we head toward the crash site. We set up on a ridge behind the crash site and look down at the Garrison’s camp. Lance has the binoculars and says, “Woah.. what the heck is that thing?!.. And who is she?” By his tone, I can tell he’s checking out a girl and I smack him before taking the binoculars. Lance groans while Pidge speaks, “Thanks, Stella.” I look through the binoculars, “No problem Pidge.” Lance takes the binoculars away from me, “Alright alien ship. Man, we’ll never get past those officers to get a better look.” I take the binoculars again and look through them to see how the Galaxy Garrison officers have taken over the situation. I hear Hunk say from behind me, “Aw man. Yeah, we- yeah guess we can’t do anything but go back to the barracks, right?” I can’t see but I hear Hunk is trying to walk away. Pidge speaks up, “Wait.” I hear Hunk’s footsteps stop, “They set up a camera in there, and I managed to grab its feed. Come look.” I look away from the binoculars, and me, Lance, and Hunk all watch the computer screen with Pidge.

From the camera feed, we see a man strapped down to a table. But he looks familiar, it’s Shiro, the pilot for the Kerberos Mission. Officers in Hazmat suits are examining him and we hear from the audio feed that Shiro is anxious, “Hey! Wait, what are you doing?” One of the officers speaks, “Calm down Shiro, we just need to keep you quarantined until we can run some tests on you.” Shiro struggles to try and get free, “You have to listen to me! They destroyed worlds! Aliens are coming!” I see Lance point to the screen “That’s-” I interrupt, “Shiro.” Lance clears his throat slightly, “Um, yeah. He was the pilot for the Kerberos Mission. That guy is my hero.” After Lance finishes his thought Hunk comments, “Huh, guess he’s not dead in space after all.” I keep looking at how Shiro is dressed and for a moment scenes of hallways flash in my mind and I hear Pidge ask, “But where’s the rest of the crew?” All four of us keep watching and listening to the feed from inside the tent, “Do you know how long you’ve been gone?” Shiro still looks uneasy, “I don’t know. Months? Years? Look, there’s no time. Aliens are coming here for a weapon. They’re probably on their way. They’ll destroy us! We need to find Voltron!” Shiro is still struggling to get out of the straps. All four of us react when we hear Shiro say ‘Voltron’. Pidge shouts, “Voltron! The word I’ve been hearing.” When I hear Voltron this second time, I get the same image flash in my mind but then I hear joyful laughter of 4 different voices. But while the voices feel familiar, I can’t remember why. I look around but there isn’t anyone there who could be laughing. Hunk looks at me, “You ok Stella?” I look back at the screen with the feed, “Um, yeah. I just thought I heard something.” Hunk looks back at the screen and we all keep watching the feed. “Sir, look at this. It seems his arm has been replaced with a cyborg prosthetic.” One of the officers in the hazmat suits says, “Put him under until we learn what that thing can do.” Shiro seems to panic slightly, “No, no! Don’t put me under! No! No, there’s no time! Let me go!” The officers and technicians hold Shiro down and sedate him. Pidge speaks first, “They didn’t ask about the rest of the crew.” I am confused, from what I remember before Shiro left, everyone treated him with the utmost respect.
