Hi everyone, I have come back to Genshin Impact after a couple months of a break from it. Now the last time I talked about Genshin Impact I gave you guys some general information of all the weapon types now this time I’m going to talk about one specific weapon type which is swords. Now there are multiple different characters that use swords, at the time that I am writing this post there are 18 playable characters that use swords, this is including the Traveler who is the character we first play as and follow their storyline.
Also at the time that I am writing this blog post there are 41 different swords that can be obtained in Genshin Impact. Now before I get into all the swords the weapons don’t just look different for aesthetic purposes only. I’m sure most of you knew that if you have played the game before.
Now since there are 41 different swords in this post I want to talk about 3 different swords. 3 swords that are normally very common to find in the beginning of the game.
All of the swords in Genshin Impact have a base attack stat. So what the base attack stat does is in the grand scheme of the game, the attack of the weapon adds to the attack of the character.
The first sword I want to talk about is the Dull Blade sword, this one is a common sword that is included as one of the weapons that you can obtain from opening chests around the game. You can also get this weapon sometimes when you do the investigate interaction in the game. There is also an npc that you can talk to and they will open a shop where you can buy the Dull blade and other 1-star quality weapons.
Dull Blade sword has an attack of 23 when you first equip it without leveling it up. When you completely max out the sword, meaning you have reached level 70 and ascension level 4 of the sword, its attack will become 183. I tend to use the Dull Blade and all the duplicates I get of this sword to level up my better quality weapons.

The next sword I want to talk about is a 2-star quality sword called Silver Sword. You can obtain this sword through dialogue with some npc’s or you can buy it from just about any blacksmith in any of the current open areas. Each main city in each area has a blacksmith that you can create weapons at their forge or buy from their shop. You can also find this sword sometimes through chests hidden all over the game or when you use the investigate interaction when available.
When you first obtain this sword, its attack is 33 and when ascend it to level 4 and max out the level of the sword to 70, its attack becomes 243. I also use this sword as enhancement material to level up my better quality weapons.

The next sword is a 3-star Cool Steel sword. You can obtain this sword through wishes or there is actually a way to get this sword through dialogue with an npc. When you first get this sword the base attack is 39. But this sword is different from the previous two, because while the other two swords just have attack stats, this sword has another stat. This Cool Steel sword has a second attack stat. This second attack stat adds a percentage of more attack to the character who is wielding this sword.
So for example, for the purpose of these stats I made a new account for the game and started over, so I have a level 20 Traveler who I haven’t ascended. So the stats my Traveler has on their own should roughly be about 45 attack, but with the Cool Steel sword my Traveler now has 84 attack. But that’s not it, the cold steel sword has a the second attribute which is attack and at level one it’s at 7.7%. So what that means is, when you look at the details in the stats, there will be a +6 on the right in green for attack because 7.7% of 84 is roughly 6.
Another advantage this sword has is a passive ability called “Bane of Water and Ice”. What that means is in the game during combat, the damage against enemies who are affected by Hydro and Cryo is increased by 12%. But this percentage can change depending on what refinement level the sword is.
Now to refine a weapon means you are going to essentially level up the passive ability of the weapon, but you have to have a duplicate of the weapon to refine it by one level, if you have multiple duplicates you can refine the weapon up to level 5. Level 5 refinement is the cap level for all weapons regardless of quality. You can also use another duplicate of the same weapon even if you already started to refine it. So an example of that is if I used a Cool Steel sword that was at refinement level 2 on another Cool Steel sword that was also refinement level 2, then whichever one I was refining would become refinement level 4.
Now back to the Cool Steel sword’s passive ability. At refinement level one it’s 12% increased damage against enemies affected by Hydro and Cryo, at 2 it’s 15%, at 3 it’s 18%, at 4 it’s 21%, and at 5 it’s 24%.
You can obtain this sword through the wish mechanic, through chests hidden all around the game, or through dialogue with an npc. Now keep in mind every time I mention talking to an npc, it must be the first time you go through the dialogue to get the reward. Once you have accepted the reward you cannot go through the dialogue to get the reward again.
I keep at least one fully ascended and max leveled out, as spare weapon for characters that need better swords. But I use most of the extra Cool Steel swords as enhancement materials for my higher quality weapons.

Now I know this post seems a bit shorter than usual but as I’ve kept this blog going on for so long I’ve realized that I’ve grown as a writer. I also think it’s only right that this blog grows and evolves with me. So keep your eyes peeled for the next blog post.
