Minecraft is debatably the best game to ever be created not because it has amazing graphics, or has an amazing story with well written characters. It’s the best because you are given free liberty to do what you want to do. Wanna build? Build. Wanna experiment with redstone? Do it. Wanna explore and look for cool landmarks. Let’s go. Wanna have that two week obsession with your friends? Go for it. There’s so much you can do and then to top it off if you wanna do more there’s thousands of mods that’ll give you more content, more things to discover, more experiments, more decorations for builds, new bosses, or just make Vanilla Minecraft a little more aesthetic. And that’s what I plan to talk about in this post.
I’ve been messing around with mods for a bit now. Playing with mods I remember as a kid or stuff I’ve recently found. One of the oldest mod I remember being the Fisk’s superheroes
Fisk’s Supheroes mod is a 1.7.10 mod that allows you to be a few heroes and villains from both Marvel and DC. Besides the costumes it adds a new mob and a few new ores Vibranium, Eternium, Titanium, Dwarf star, Olive vine and the more important ore to the mode Tutridium gems.
Tutridium is gonna be the main ore you want to mine for in this mod. It’s apart of almost every recipe of the added items and you need them to make the suits in the Suit Fabricator.
There are two Suit Fabricators as shown in the image above, the one on the right is the upgraded version while the left one is the one you’re gonna make. Recipe is two Tutridium gems in the top corners, two block of Titanium in the middle top and bottom slots, glass in the middle, and four Titanium ingots to fill the last slots. This will just make the the suits to get the the suits you need to make the Suit Database. Its recipe is 2 stone slabs at the top corners, 1 stone block bottom middle, 4 iron ingots on the sides, a crafting table in the middle, and a Tutridium gem top middle.
Now, admittedly it is a bit tedious to get the suits, and some of the higher tier suits require you to find rare ores and you have to unlock suits from previous tiers. But for all of them you are going to need allot of both levels and Iridescent Gold. Iridescent Gold is as you can guess is a mod item. in order to make it you need gold and Creetle shells. Creetle shells you get from killing the Creetle’s I mentioned before.
They spawn only at night and in swamp biomes and they drop one to two shells. To make the Iridescent Gold you need four gold nuggets for the corners, four gold ingots in the outer middle slots, and the creetle shell in the middle. Those are the main things you need, as I said before it can be a bit tedious but once you get the suit you want it is so worth it. I do recommend using a city map or maybe get a mod that lets you make builds rather quickly to make it even more fun especially if you wanna mess around with the Spider-Man suits or mess around flying in between buildings or recreate scenes from the Flash with friends. My only gripe with this mod is that it’s strictly 1.7.10, it has so much potential if made for newer versions of Minecraft and I just feel like the creator limited themselves by not doing so.
The next mod I want to talk about is the 1.18.2-1.16.5 mod Timeless and Classics Guns (TaC).
TaC is a 3D gun mod. They recently did an overhaul and remade the mod calling Timeless and Classic: Zero for 1.20.1. It’s currently in beta and they haven’t added all the guns yet but it might be worth to check it out.
TaC is one of the recent mods I found on my own while looking for a gun mod for a zombie apocalypse world. TaC adds 50+ guns as well as enchantments for the guns, attachments, gun specific enchantments, skins, vests, and grenades. The guns are 3D modeled, with animations to reload and inspect your weapons. To get the weapons you need to first make the workbench the recipe is 3 pieces of wood, an iron block in the middle and 4 iron ingots on the sides. In general you’re gonna allot of iron for the guns and copper, and gunpowder to make the guns and ammo. And the more powerful guns may require diamonds or netherite, one of the snipers requires a nether star to make but you can still get decent guns early game the Glock 17 only costs eighteen iron ingots and the ammo is ten copper and two gunpowder. The grenades are also cheap only being six iron and three gunpowder.
Usually the most annoying thing with gun mods is having the ammo take up inventory space but in this mod you can make a vest to store your ammo giving you eighteen free slots. The mod also adds weight physics with the guns, so if you’re hold a heavier gun it’ll slow you down a good bit, and they are given recoil. Going back to what I said before the guns are all 3D modeled each with an inspection animation not all are unique but they’re still really cool. I do wanna say when looking at other POV’s the guns look a little smaller, that was apparently fixed in Zero. The audios of these guns sound really nice and crisp. Even the bullets have gravity physics, if there’s wind physics I don’t know about it haven’t tried used a weather mod along with this one. So if you’re looking for a gun mod, for the previously mentioned versions of Minecraft, I highly recommend this one.
If heroes and guns aren’t what you’re looking for how about Anime? There’s a bunch of anime mods out there but I’m gonna talk about the grandfather of anime mods, Dragon Block C.
As you can guess it’s a Dragon Ball mod. It follows the story from Dragon Ball all the way to Super. You’re given the choice of what race you wanna be ranging from Human, Saiyan, Half Saiyan, Namekian, and Arcosian (Frieza’s race). If the race has a transformation you got it, ranging from Super Saiyan all the way to the god forms. There’s an alignment system that can prevent you from learning certain techniques from good or evil characters or just out right prevent you from interacting with them. Just about every piece of armor and every weapon that exists within the show or movies also exists in the mod. They also add well known locations from the show. Such as Kame house, Kami’s lookout, Cell Arena, Goku’s house, Snake Way, King Kai’s place and more.
Going back to Snake Way and King Kai’s, the mod adds three new dimensions. One being Otherworld, and of course the only way to get there is to die. Upon dying when you respawn you’ll appear in King Yemma’s safe zone. Which is his structure, him, and his desk made of mahogany. Mahogany. Talking to King Yemma gives a couple options. You can revive yourself, assuming you don’t turn that off with commands in which case you’d have to get a friend to revive you with the Dragon Balls, or you can reincarnate which reset you back to the start and you can create a new character. Also on Otherworld is Snake Way and like in the anime it’s a long walk, 3,600 blocks, even flying takes a bit to get all the way through. But at the end of it you find King Kai and Jin Ryuu, the creator of the mod who sadly passed away back in 2018 I believe. Both can teach you a few techniques and give you forms, the obvious being Kaioken and the Spirit Bomb. The other two dimensions are Namek and Planet Vegeta. Namek as you can probably guess will have Super Kami Guru and Frieza, you can bye techniques from them, do long as you’re in the right alignment. Planet Vegeta doesn’t actually have anything other than hostile Saiyans. You can probably just go there with weights and a gravity machine to farm Training points
Now you’re probably wondering what Training Points are, I’ve brought up how different characters can teach you things, well in order to learn them you need Training Points (TP). You get TP by killing mobs or doing the training simulations the mod provides. You can earn more doing that by wearing weights, being on King Kai’s planet, or being in the Hyperbolic time chamber. Though the time chamber only always for you to be inside for about twenty minutes. The TP can be used to buy techniques, forms, and skills or to upgrade your skills and stats. And you’ll need allot of TP for everything. Now I have to be honest and say although a great mod it being a 1.7.10 mod it is clunky as Hell as are most mods back then. And sadly it doesn’t seem like it’ll be getting any other updates with the new mod creator seemingly has left it alone since it’s last update. And although I enjoyed it it does eventually get repetitive. Kill bosses until you come across one too strong and train until you can take it down. I defiantly recommend adding other mods to give yourself other content to go too when you wanna give Dragon Ball a break or play it with friends there’s even a fusion system in the mod so you can make fusions with your friends. Besides that If you love the Dragon Ball series I think you’ll love the mod.
There are allot more mods I’ve looked into but a good number of them are utility mods that help make things a little easier for me. Sophisticated backpacks being one of them so that I’m not struggling with space when I plan to go mining for a long while. Speaking of mining I also enjoy using Tinker’s Construct. The extra weapon choices is nice, as well as the mining tools. Plus I essentially get a giant furnace where I can smelt multiple different ores at once. Though when using it be sure to make sure what you put in won’t mix with whatever ore you already smelted, made that mistake one too many times. Another utility mod I love is the Dynamic Lights mod, it makes it so any light in your hand lights up the area like it would if it were placed down. Very handy when you’re low on torches and lost in your mine with a nearly busted tool and of course any map mod is always a help.
That’s all I got for this post, if there are any cool mods y’all know of share them in the comments, share your experience, make friends. And if two people fall in love in the comments let me know. Always wanted to be the random stranger that accidently match makes a couple. Y’all be safe out there!
