I had originally downloaded Genshin Impact early on when it was first released in September of 2020, but over the past few years, I have only played it occasionally taking month-long breaks. I like the game for multiple reasons, I like that the game is open-world, and I like the character designs of the Main Character, the NPCs, some who can be pulled from the draw, and the ones who remain unplayable.
I like the different game mechanics that Genshin Impact has, at a certain height the characters can jump off something and use “Gliders” which resemble wings to glide to the ground. I like this mechanic because when I play the game and have to travel to different locations for quests, I find gliding to be more helpful when to get to the search areas. I also find that sometimes buildings are difficult to climb from below, so gliding from a higher altitude and gliding to the wall or roof of the building required is more efficient.
I like the use of Elements in the game, each character has a “Vision” which is an amulet of some sort that reacts to a person’s ambition, while most people do not use the elemental powers of their visions, some people do. The people shown to have visions and elemental abilities have been unlockable characters from the draw function.
The character designs seem to follow the body shape of thin curvy anime girls, there are also fit well bit male characters, and a couple of characters with smaller builds.
Genshin Impact is an open-world game, which means you don’t necessarily have to do story quests to see more of the world that the game is set in. As I played there are certain areas that are only unlocked through story quests or side quests. So, the map has portions that are unlocked to be drawn with designs of plains, mountains, and buildings of towns. I keep using the term unlocked and I will explain that right now, in the lore of the game, there are “Statues of The Seven.” which are statues of seven gods in the realm. As far as I have seen there is a game mechanic that when the main character interacts with one of the states they can change the main character's elemental power. As far as I have played I have unlocked, the Anemo powers, the Geo powers, and the Electro powers, and I am not sure if I got the Dendro powers or if I was planning to.
The Anemo powers are wind powers, so the Main Character that you get to input a name of your choice can create air blasts, and after swiping with a sword can cause the air to move as a slice. The concentrated air blast has a cooldown once it is used, although it is only a few seconds. I personally love using this element, it’s my favorite to fight with against the monsters and enemies in the game.
The Geo powers are earth powers, the Main Character can create small platforms on any surface and can use the platforms as stepping stones. The platforms will break apart and dissipate after about 20 seconds, and it has a cooldown of a few seconds before you can create another platform. I personally do not use this element unless I have to because I find it harder to fight with.
The Electro powers are electricity powers, The Main Character can create bolts of electricity by swiping the sword.
The Dendro powers were added earlier this year and I haven’t gotten around to exploring the new areas and the Dendro powers. I want to progress in the main story to where the area is introduced and then explore. But as of right now, I’m level blocked, so when I do get around to playing I’m doing side quests and farming to upgrade my characters to their max.
One of the things I like about the gameplay of Genshin Impact is the elemental reactions that are possible. When playing Genshin Impact there is a party of characters that you get to choose. There are 4 slots and you get to pick which 4 characters you want in the current party. While playing and doing quests or exploring, the selected character can be switched easily and this helps to cause elemental reactions that cause greater damage to enemies.
The following elements are present in the game, Anemo, Geo, Electro, Dendro, Cryo, Pyro, and Hydro. I have previously explained how the Main Character can use some of the elements as far as I have progressed in the game. But other unlockable characters that you pull from a draw system use one of these elements.
Cryo is ice power, when they strike an opponent with their elemental attacks, the enemy has a cold debuff. There are a couple of combinations of elemental reactions, but I will explain the reactions after I explain the other elements.
Pyro is fire power, when characters with this power attack enemies the enemy has a burning debuff.
Hydro is water power, when characters with this element attack their enemies the enemy has a wet status which sets up for other elemental reactions.
Vaporize is an elemental reaction between Hydro and Pyro, normally this occurs when there is a Pyro enemy that uses fire and a character attacks with a Hydro elemental attack. Another way Vaporize can occur is if a Hydro enemy, an enemy that uses Hydro attacks or on the off chance is made of water, is attacked by a character using a Pyro attack. Another way that this reaction can happen is if a Pyro enemy is pushed into a body of water. Vaporize doesn’t do a lot of damage in most cases but if the enemy is a fire enemy vaporize cools them down and the damage the enemy deals is lower.
Freezing is an elemental reaction between Hydro and Cryo. How this happens is if an enemy becomes wet or is made of water and gets hit by a Cryo elemental attack, this using the logic of the game, the Cryo attack freezes the water of or on the enemy. Freezing an enemy incapacitates them until they are hit with another attack or if the enemy can free themselves. This reaction is not limited to only enemies but to characters as well. When a character is wet and gets hit by an enemy’s Cryo attack the character is frozen and will need to free themselves by pressing a button that pops up on the screen or wait until the freezing effect passes.

Melting is another elemental reaction, it happens when a Cryo enemy is attacked by a Pyro elemental attack, this kind of elemental reaction does not deal damage. Melt also happens when a Pyro enemy is attacked with a Cryo elemental attack. Melt negates the enemy’s Pyro or Cryo attacks as long as the effect is active.
Swirl is another elemental reaction, this one is caused by the use of Anemo with just about all the other elements. In the example of the main character, they can use a move to create a tornado as an ultimate move that has to be charged. Every character has a charged move, but when the main character is resonated with Anemo power they can create a tornado that moves forward in the direction the character is facing. This tornado can then mix with other elements creating a swirl reaction. Anemo can mix with Pyro, which causes an effect similar to a fire cyclone, and this swirl with fire can spread the flames over the area it passes and deals continuous damage to an enemy if they are caught in the tornado.
Swirl with Cryo using the charged tornado move creates something similar to a blizzard. Enemies caught in the tornado are hit with continuous Cryo elemental damage as long as the tornado is in effect and if the grass area is on fire and is hit with the tornado the fire is put out.
Swirl with Electro while using the charged tornado move will create an electric tornado that will deal continuous electric damage while the enemy is hit by the tornado.
Swirl with Hydro with the charged tornado attack will do the same thing it does with the others, but Hydro will not add extra damage to the damage caused by the Anemo tornado attack.
When Electro and Hydro mix the enemy that is made of water or that is wet becomes electrically charged by the Electro attack and that causes the enemy to receive continuous electrical damage. The enemy or character is shocked every couple of seconds until the effect wears off. If there is a group of enemies near each other and are all wet, with a wide enough electrical attack all of them can be electrically charged and they all strengthen the effect with each other. An area of water can be electrically charged with an Electro attack and when an enemy or character enters the area with become electrically charged and feel the continuous electrical damage.

Overloaded is an elemental reaction that occurs when Cryo and Pyro mix, this can happen if a Pyro enemy is hit with a Cryo attack, or if a Cryo enemy is hit with a Pyro attack. This combination creates an explosion.
When Cryo mixes with Electro the elemental reaction Superconduct occurs and this happens when a Cryo enemy is hit with an Electro attack or when an Electro enemy is hit with a Cryo attack. When Superconduct occurs the enemy or character affected had decreased physical resistance, meaning that it can be attacked with normal attacks and the enemy takes more damage.
There have been a couple of Dendro enemies before the update that allowed the Main Character to obtain those powers. When those enemies were hit by Pyro attacks it created an elemental reaction called burning. It deals continuous Pyro damage to the Dendro enemy until the effect wears off.
Another elemental reaction is Crystalize, this happens when Geo is combined with just about all the other elements. When Geo mixes with the other elements a floating crystal will appear and when a character runs through it an elemental shield will appear around the character. The elemental shield will only resist the corresponding element that caused the crystallization.

That’s it for part one of my Genshin Impact discussion. The poll below will only be open for 3 days, so get your votes in while you can.
